  Three years before  the deadly collapse  of the Champlain Towers South condominium complex near Miami, a consultant found alarming evidence of “major structural damage” to the concrete slab below the pool deck and “abundant” cracking and crumbling of the columns, beams and walls of the parking garage under the 13-story building. The engineer’s report helped shape plans for a multimillion-dollar repair project that was set to get underway soon — more than two and a half years after the building managers were warned — but the building  suffered a catastrophic collapse  in the middle of the night on Thursday, crushing sleeping residents in a massive heap of debris. “These things just don’t happen in America“ has been the common statement ever since this building collapse occurred in the early morning hours... current theories are questioning whether a sinkhole caused this, other more conspiratorial folks online are questioning whether the 3.9 quick generated by Navy testing had anything to do with this.   THE AP REPORTING: American authorities seized a range of Iran’s state-linked news website domains they accused of spreading disinformation, the U.S. Justice Department said Tuesday, a move that appeared to be a far-reaching crackdown on Iranian media amid heightened tensions between the two countries. The Justice Department said 33 of the seized websites were used by the Iranian Islamic Radio and Television Union, which was singled out by the U.S. government last October for what officials described as efforts to spread disinformation and sow discord among American voters ahead of the 2020 presidential election. The U.S. says three other seized websites were operated by the Iraqi Shiite paramilitary group, Kata’ib Hizballah, which more than a decade ago was designated a foreign terrorist organization. The group is separate from the Lebanese militant Hezbollah group whose news websites remained operational. The website domains are owned by U.S. companies, but despite the sanctions...

  Iran’s only nuclear power plant has undergone an unexplained temporary emergency shutdown, state TV reported on Sunday… Relying more on the official ‘government’ word about this:  An official from state electric company Tavanir, Gholamali Rakhshanimehr, said on a talk show that the Bushehr plant shutdown began on Saturday and would last “for three to four days.”Without elaborating, he said that power outages could result.  Here is more we know from official reporting: This is the first time Iran has reported an emergency shutdown of the plant, located in the southern port city of Bushehr. It went online in 2011 with help from Russia. Iran is required to send spent fuel rods from the reactor back to Russia as a nuclear nonproliferation measure… Most of the media is still not reporting much on  Bushehr ..  BUT they also have not reported on another still developing incident at the Taishan nuclear plant in China.. Just as some are beginning to speculate...

  Uganda’s team had all been vaccinated with AstraZeneca shots and tested negative for the virus before departure, Japanese media reported,  according to the Associated Press . Japan requires a two-week quarantine for international travelers, though it is waiving the rule for many Olympic athletes and support staffers. Upon arrival Saturday night at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport, one member of Uganda’s team tested positive. That person was denied entry into Japan and sent to a government-run facility. The team’s remaining eight members continued as planned Sunday to the host town of Osaka.
