We are getting a little worried about attacks on the Internet Archive

The newest one.. More attacks on the Internet Archive..   The legal issues will continue.. the lawsuits will eventually result with a conclusion.  But if the Internet Archive dies, everything that mattered online will go with it.  All we have now are AIs and BOTs controlling it all, nothing seem real.  The Archive gives us a sense of when real people made things online, had voices.. opinions..  When people mattered. Not the machine.  Let’s just hope this does not end with an injunction against the site that kills it and all that is gives us..

Weather oddities abound from Florida waters to Washington DC

A bouy in Florida waters registered a potential record breaking 101 degrees today..  While the readings would've been considered a possible outlier or sensor error, surrounding buoys recorded similarly high temperatures,  with 99.3   F at Murray Key and 98.4   F at Johnson Key . Another reason why these water temperature readings are being taken seriously is the fact that experts have been tracking the exceptionally warm water temperature readings that have ranged from 92-97 degrees since early July. Meanwhile.. Washington DC was not with a bout of severe weather and for a brief time a funnel cloud was captured forming above the nations Capitol.. Let’s hope these don’t portend of further looking calamities to befall a nation and planet.

Man who is accused of horrific attack claims he thought his victim was a robot

This is horrific.. Local Oregon affiliates are reporting that 25-year-old Koryn Daniel Kraemer has been charged with second-degree assault after he allegedly bit and chewed off part of an elderly man’s ear and face, early Tuesday morning. Kraemer said he consumed alcohol, marijuana, and fentanyl pills before the attack, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office in Oregon said. Police arrested Kraemer shortly after 2 a.m. after finding him still on top of the victim, a 78-year-old man from Hillsboro, at a commuter rail station in Gresham, east of Portland. It added, in interviews with law enforcement, Kraemer said he believed the victim was a “robot” and was trying to kill him because of how he “smelled.” Kraemer further stated that he spit out the flesh of the victim he had consumed, and the responding law enforcement had saved his life by separating him from "the robot." The return of the green comet

This seems to be pretty historic! A green bright comet named C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is set to make its closest approach to Earth in two weeks, the comet was discovered in March when transiting through Jupiter's orbit, E3 will reach perihelion on January 8, after that will be visible without glasses.. This is pretty rare, as space sites are reporting. Here is what is known: It was discovered in March 2022. NASA reported that the rare green comet was spotted using a wide-field survey camera at CalTech's Zwicky Transient Facility within Jupiter's orbit. Since then, it has hurdled ever closer to the Sun, and as NASA noted in a post about the comet, it will reach its perigee, or closest point to us on Earth, on February 1. From everything mainstream sources are reporting, This phenomenon has not happened in 10,000 years.. And get this! NASA data suggests that the last time this gorgeous green goblin came this close to Earth was about 50,000 years ago.. In reality that means that the l...

Hearing held on Kohberger, probably cause affidavit released

Male DNA left on a knife sheath was used to  link a then-doctoral student in Washington state  with the slayings of  four University of Idaho students  in November — and a surviving roommate came basically face-to-face with him the night of the killings, according to court documents unsealed Thursday. A  probable cause affidavit  prepared by Moscow, Idaho, police Officer Brett Payne lays out how investigators used video surveillance in the area to connect the quadruple homicide with a white Hyundai Elantra driven by Bryan Kohberger, 28. He is being held without bail at this time..

Chaos in the House! Another failed vote for McCarthy .. history in the making

It’s been 164 years since this happened! But what happens if there is no conclusion!! Every new Congress must pass a new set of House rules, so without a speaker to oversee adoption of those rules, none will technically exist.  Without an approved House Rules package by the end of business on January 13, committees also won’t be able to pay staff, according to a letter sent last week by the committee in charge of administrative matters, which was first reported by  Politico  and obtained by CNN. The same memo warned that student loan payments for committee staff wouldn’t be disbursed if a rules package isn’t adopted by mid-January. However,  per precedents of the chamber , the pay period for members-elect still starts on January 3, even if the first session of Congress begins after that date ,  as long as their credentials have been filed with the House clerk.

Law enforcement tracking Kohberger’s nationwide drive?

Bryan Kohberger’s classmates begin to speak out

Classmates of the Idaho quadruple murder suspect have said he became more chatty in their criminology class after November’s quadruple-slaying – but turned silent when the killings themselves were discussed. Bryan Kohberger, 28, was taken into custody by the Pennsylvania State Police on Friday morning more than 2,000 miles from where four university students were killed in their beds on November 13. Students who attended Washington State University with Kohberger were shocked to learn that the quiet man in their classroom was the prime suspect in the brutal slaying. MORE.. BK Norton, who was in the same criminal justice graduate program with Kohberger, said her classmate appeared more animated and talkative following the murders. ‘He seemed more upbeat and willing to carry a conversation,’ she told the New York Times . But Norton noted all his enthusiasm would go away and he would become ‘quiet and deadpan’ when the class would discuss the Idaho murder case. Another video that has...

History made: No House Speaker for the first time in 100 years

A once in a 100 year event: The House has adjourned without a Speaker..  CNN reporting on the political turmoil: The new House GOP majority is locked in a chaotic once-in-a-century fight to determine who will serve as the next speaker after Republican Kevin McCarthy failed to secure the necessary support to win in three rounds of voting on Tuesday. The House is now adjourned until Wednesday at noon as Republicans scramble to find a path forward. McCarthy faces a small but determined contingent of hardline conservatives who are intent on denying him the votes to secure the gavel. The top House Republican has defiantly vowed to stay in the race as he continues his increasingly imperiled bid for speaker. But the longer the fight drags on, the more uncertainty there is over whether he can win. The last time an election for speaker went to multiple ballots was in 1923. The contentious, drawn out fight threatens to deepen divides among House Republicans with McCarthy’s political career o...
