Scientists hunt for 'Patient Su' woman who could be mystery 'Covid patient zero': She fell ill in September 2019 and was treated at Rongjun Hospital in Wuhan. The patient did not undergo nucleic testing and later died.
Press reports: The revelations come after British officials conceded this week that the possibility of a lab leak remains “plausible” - with mysterious “Patient Su” appearing to have been traced close to the Wuhan Institute..
MORE INFO:
The 61-year-old has reportedly been traced back to an address three miles from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where some researchers believe the bug escaped in a lab leak.
Gilles Demaneuf, a data scientist who works with online sleuth team DRASTIC as they conduct an independent probe into the origins of Covid, made the discovery.
The woman reportedly fell ill with Covid-like symptoms in November and was taken to the nearby Rongjun Hospital in Wuhan.
China has so far given December 8 to the World Health Organisation (WHO) as the date of its “earliest onset case”.
Demaneuf told the Mail on Sunday: “We were able to pinpoint the exact name, age and address of a very early suspected case nearly one month before the official first case.
"That address is right next to the subway line No 2 and also not far from a People’s Liberation Army hospital that treated some of the other earliest cases.”
The entire release of this name appears to have been a mistake.
THE DAILY MAIL:
A mistake by a leading Chinese official may have disclosed the name, address and details about one of the first people suspected of being infected with Covid-19 in Wuhan, three weeks before Beijing authorities claim they detected the initial case.
The astonishing error, revealed in a screen-grab sent to a Chinese medical journal, shows that the 61-year-old woman, known as ‘Patient Su’, lived about a mile from one of the city’s main coronavirus research labs.

Anthony Fauci’s pandemic emails: ‘All is well despite some crazy people in this world’
“I saw the Science interview, how could I say such a word ‘big mistake’ about others? That was journalist’s wording. Hope you understand,” Gao, director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, wrote to Fauci in a March 28 email. “Lets work together to get the virus out of the earth.”
“Lets work together to get the virus out of the earth.”
“I understand completely. No problem,” Fauci wrote back. “We will get through this together.”
The previously unreported exchange was among 866 pages of Fauci’s emails obtained by The Washington Post as part of a Freedom of Information Act request. The correspondence from March and April 2020 opens a window to Fauci’s world during some of the most frantic days of the crisis, when the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases was struggling to bring coherence to the Trump administration’s chaotic response to the virus and President Donald Trump was seeking to minimize its severity.
Fauci’s correspondence from March and April 2020, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, offers a peek into his world during the frantic early days of the coronavirus crisis.
